Kevin specialises in international trade and maritime law, with a focus on charterparty, carriage of goods, admiralty, and commodities disputes.
Kevin is qualified to practice law in Singapore and is an Accredited Specialist in Maritime and Shipping Law appointed by the Singapore Academy of Law. He advises on maritime disputes and represents clients in Singapore Court proceedings, institutional arbitrations (ICC /SIAC/HKIAC) and adhoc arbitrations (SCMA Rules, LMAA terms).
The issues that Kevin advises on include shipping delays resulting from COVID-19, demurrage, detention, sanctions on oil shipments, responsibility for port congestion, cargo contamination, breakdown of hull and machinery, shipment of dangerous goods under the IMDG code, emission control methods, and implementation of counter-measures against piracy and hijacking. He is experienced in dealing with disputes relating to the financial distress of players in the trade, shipping and offshore industry.
Additionally, Kevin advises on international trade disputes including off-specification and shortfall claims, price adjustments, goods rejection, delayed shipment, and non-conforming letters of credit.
Kevin also has a particular interest in digital transformation of the shipping industry.

Lu Yuan’s contentious shipping experience includes ship collisions, oil pollution matters, charterparty disputes, claims for mis-delivery of cargo, cargo damage and loss of cargo, disposal of abandoned cargo carried by air and sea, and marine insurance claims involving issues such as insufficient packaging, inherent vice and fraud.

Rachel is a Legal Director at Clasis LLC, Singapore. Rachel’s main area of practice is in civil and commercial disputes with a focus on infrastructure, engineering and construction related matters. Jeremy is an Associate at Clasis LLC, Singapore. Jeremy represents and advises clients in infrastructure, engineering, and construction related disputes which arise from projects in Singapore and around the region.

Thomas has represented main contractors and subcontractors in international arbitrations under the SIAC, ICC as well as ad-hoc rules, at all levels of the Singapore Courts, adjudications under Singapore’s Building and Construction Security of Payment Act, and at mediations. Thomas also has experience representing and advising clients in other matters relating to shareholder disputes, directors’ duties, restructuring and insolvency and employment disputes.

Kelvin is an Associate in the Projects & Construction team in our Singapore office. He previously trained and practised at two of Singapore’s ‘Big Four’ law firms before joining in May 2024.

Xi Ying is an Associate of the Marine and International Trade team in the Singapore office.
Xi Ying is an Associate of the Marine and International Trade team in the Singapore office, and regularly advises clients on disputes arising out of charterparties, contracts of carriage, facility agreements and contracts for the sale and purchase of a wide range of commodities.
Xi Ying has represented shipowners, cargo owners, insurers and financiers on both contentious and non-contentious matters. For contentious matters, she has represented clients in various complex disputes stretching from Singapore court proceedings to arbitrations administered by institutions such as SIAC, LMAA and HKIAC. Her non-contentious experience includes drafting and reviewing sale and purchase agreements for commodities and shares of vessel-owning companies.
Xi Ying regularly volunteers with the Law Society Pro Bono Services and has represented numerous applicants of the Criminal Legal Aid Scheme.

Elizabeth is an associate in the Singapore office who specialises in shipping, international trade and commodities, both contentious and non-contentious.
Elizabeth worked at a leading local firm for several years and was seconded to a leading international group P&I Club before joining Clyde & Co’s Singapore office in 2022.
Elizabeth’s main area of practice is in shipping and international trade matters. She acts for and advises a variety of clients in the marine industry including leading commodity trading firms, shipowners, charterers, terminals, P&I Clubs and marine insurers. She has since been involved in a number of high-profile cases involving the use of fraudulent financial instruments.
Aside from dispute resolution, Elizabeth also routinely advises on legal issues involving sanctions, sale and purchase of vessels (both private and judicial sales) and trade finance, as well as contract wording across a variety of commercial contracts.
